The January transfer window is well and truly underway. Clubs seek to strengthen their squad and some are keen to finish deals at the earliest. One player that is reportedly under the radar of Manchester United and Liverpool is Sven Botman. In this piece,we will discuss about his strengths and qualities.

Sven Botman is one of the tallest defenders in Ligue1 ,with a height of 1.95m. This enables him to win almost any aerial duel . His body strength is pretty impressive and can easily shield the ball from the attackers. His vision and positioning is alluring for a 20-year old,who had no prior experience of senior football till the 19/20 season with the dutch outlet,SC Heerenveen.

He joined the club only last july, but has started every game for them in the league as well as in Europa league, not missing a single minute . His presence in defense along with Jose Fonte has helped Lille qualify to the knockout stages of the europa league. Losc are also currently second in the league, with the second least goals conceded this season. Botman also holds a very impressive disciplinary record with only 2 yellow cards issued to him so far this season.

To sum it up,Botman is very talented for a young defender. Whilst there are some areas of improvement,he has so many pros which indicate that he has all the potential to be a complete defender in the coming years under proper management. In my opinion,it’s unlikely he leaves for a new club this window, but is certainly under the watchlist of some top european clubs.
