NICO CASTILLO: SCOUT REPORT

THE SEASON FINALE-WHAT'S AT STAKE?

The 20/21 season is nearing its end and in this piece, we'll have a look at what's still in store for clubs across the top 5 leagues.

 LA LIGA:

The race for the Spanish title has been a treat to watch this season and it comes down to the last day of the season to see which side of Madrid will be crowned as champions on Saturday. For Atleti, a win would secure their 11th La Liga title while Real Madrid hope that their city rivals draw or lose against Valladolid as the galacticos have a better Head to Head record.

Meanwhile, the fight for a European place is tight as the 5th and 7th spots are separated only by a point. Currently, Real Sociedad and Real Betis occupy the Europa League spot while Villareal are holding on to the new Uefa Conference League spot, ahead of their Europa League final against Manchester United. What's surprising is the fact that Villareal could still finish anywhere in the three tiers of the UEFA club competitions for next season depending on either their position in the table or their result in the final.

The relegation race is going right down to the wire with none of the teams relegated on Gameweek 37. It's all to play for these 4 clubs with the difference between the bottom and the 17th, being 3 points only.

LIGUE 1:

The French league title is rarely decided on the final day of the season in recent years due to PSG's dominance but this season proves to be different. Losc Lille and PSG are separated only by a point while Monaco still has an outside chance of being champions, provided both Lille and PSG lose and Monaco can achieve a better goal difference than the team currently at first. But Monaco will hope that they can at least keep hold of the third position, which secures them a spot in the Champions League qualifiers. Lyon will seek to climb higher than the current position as 4th place means a spot in the Europa League for next season.

On the bottom side of the table, things are really interesting. While the automatic relegation spots are confirmed, the drive to escape a playoff relegation fixture intensifies. Even 13th placed Reims can slip down to as low as 18th if other results don't favor them. One thing is for sure: The fans of all these clubs will be switching from their teles to the results page from time to time on Sunday.

BUNDESLIGA:

With the title and the top four places already secured, all that's left at stake is the relegation race in Germany. With Schalke being the only team officially going down before the final game week, there is still something to fight for the other three teams. 16th place means a playoff relegation fixture, but the clubs will  hope to avoid any of these by finishing at 15th, with only 2 points separating another season in the German top-flight from relegation.

PREMIER LEAGUE:

With only the two Manchester clubs securing a place in the UEFA Champions League before Matchweek 37, the race for Europe is heating up just like last season. A point is all that separates a Champions League spot from a Europa League spot. With Leicester crowned as Fa Cup winners,6th place also guarantees a spot in the Europa League group stage for next season. West Ham are currently occupying that spot but clubs down below them are still in the running, which makes up a fascinating last day of the season in England.

SERIE A:

The race for Champions League is not done in Italy too, as three teams are yet to secure their final position. Milan will be hoping to play in the Champions League for the first time since 2014 but face a daunting task against Atalanta, who have already secured their place in next season's UCL. Meanwhile, Juventus are in danger of missing out on finishing in Europe's elite club competition, having been qualified for nine consecutive years, whilst playing two finals in this period.

As the final day, in what has been a long season awaits us, let's delve into the action this weekend.
